Awesome job, Gabby!

Just wanted to take a moment to say, “Awesome job, Gabby!”  Gabby Wilson, who is a junior at Briarcrest High School, stepped up and shared our devotional for our Wild Wednesday on September 28 and did an awesome job!  She shared with our teenagers from Colossians 3:23 & 2 Thessalonians 3:10 about the importance of working our hardest at everything we do and using our God-given potential to its fullest.

Thanks Gabby for sharing!  It’s so awesome to watch students step up and become leaders and ministers themselves!

Parent Seminar @ Ellendale Baptist Church

Hey Youth Parents,

Just got a message from my friend and fellow Youth Pastor, Nathan Pellegra, from Ellendale Baptist Church in Bartlett about a free Parent Seminar hosted by Covenant Eyes, focusing on the dangers of Internet pornography for teenagers.

Don’t think it’s a danger for your teen?  Check out these statistics…

  • From 1999 to 2009 the amount of time spent on computers increased 121%. Today, 84% of young people have Internet access at home and Americans ages 13 to 24 spend more than 20 hours a week surfing the Internet.
  • Nearly 90% of all sexual solicitations of youth occur online.
  • 20% of youth have received a sexual solicitation online.
  • The average age of a child’s first Internet exposure to pornography is just 11 years old!
  • More than 100,000 websites offer illegal child pornography. More than 72 million
    people visit pornography websites annually.

This will definitely be a worthwhile seminar to attend.  For more info and to register, visit Ellendale Baptist’s website here.

Secret Church Wrap-up

What an awesome night we had last night at our first Secret Church!  Over the course of 4 hours, we walked verse by verse through the book of James, asking questions, talking about relevant issues related to the Scriptures, discovering application, and praying for one another as the Holy Spirit led us.  It was great to see our teenagers digging into God’s Word, examining their lives in light of the Word, and discovering what God wanted from them in response to James.

Teens, I want to challenge you to read through James again over the course of the next week or so, going back through the things we talked about, and continue to pray seeking God’s wisdom.  I also hope what you took home from this is that you CAN study and understand God’s Word!  Let’s be people of the Word!

For HIS Glory!

Secret Church

In other countries, Christians gather in secret for hours at a time to study God’s Word, oftentimes risking their lives to do so.  Here in America, we have the freedom to study God’s Word, but we choose not to.  It’s time for a change.  We’re going to spend a night digging into God’s Word like you may have never done before, working through chapters and books of the Bible, discussing what we believe, and praying for one another.

Meet at the James house @ 6pm.  Address is 5213 Shetland Trail in Arlington.  Bring a Bible & a notepad with you.  Food will be provided.

Email Jeff for more info or for directions.
